Pico Naranja is a solidary wine, the result of a collaborative work between Foundation SETBA, the drawing studio La Casa de Carlota and Bardinet - Lacrima Baccus - the artist Erik Nitsch, from the Catalan Down Syndrome Foundation, was the first winner of the contest " The Balcó de les Arts ". In the multicolored label we can empathize with the perception that people with Down Syndrome have of things, in general. They tend to draw the essential qualities of things they know, such as the roundness of the head and the symmetry of the human body or, as in this case, the stiffness of the bird's legs or its huge beak, without specific details. The bright colours make us understand ingenuity, simplicity and vivacity, its analytical and pragmatic character when they reproduce the own experiences. It is undoubtedly the best tribute to our autochthonous variety Grenache

Tasting notes

Colour: Bright and clean, intense picota cherry with violet hues.

Bouquet: High intensity, toasted notes of tobacco, red and black fruit, dried figs, balsamic and mineral touch.

Palate: Smooth attack, sweet tannins. A full bodied and structured wine, but very fresh, persistent and with a pleasant fruity aftertaste.

Elaboration

The decision for the harvesting date of this variety is taken based on the phenolic ripeness. We work with cold pasta, attentively controlling oxidations in order not to lose freshness. The fermentation is done with great delicacy, when it finishes the wine remains in stainless tanks to take it to our bottling lines.

Gastronomy and recommendations

Thanks to the freshness of the wine, it is ideal for meat dishes such as grills, roasts, stews, etc. It pairs very well with cheeses, cured meats, meats and smoked fishes.
